IPTV TiviMate: Complete Setup & Usage Guide

IPTV TiviMate explained: what it does, how to connect your playlist, costs, legality, and how to pick the right provider. Everything in one place.

TiviMate is an IPTV player built for Android-based devices. If you are setting up IPTV TiviMate for the first time, the core thing to understand is that it does not include channels, subscriptions, or content of its own. You bring the IPTV subscription; TiviMate handles the interface.

If you want to know whether a specific provider works well with TiviMate before paying, you can try it free first and test the connection yourself.

What IPTV TiviMate actually does

TiviMate sits between your IPTV provider and your television screen. Your provider delivers the video streams. TiviMate renders the program guide, manages channel categories, handles playback settings, and gives you a grid-style EPG that works with a standard TV remote.

Without a connected IPTV subscription, TiviMate shows you nothing. That is worth stating clearly, because a lot of first-time users install the app expecting it to come loaded with content. It does not.

What you get with the free version

The free version lets you add a single playlist and watch live channels. The EPG works, basic playback settings are available, and channel switching is fast. For someone who only needs one provider and has no interest in recording or multiview, it is perfectly functional.

What TiviMate premium adds

TiviMate Premium is purchased through a separate TiviMate Companion app on Google Play. For current purchase details and pricing, check the Google Play listing directly, as these are set by TiviMate and subject to change. It adds support for multiple playlists, catch-up TV, recordings, multiview (watching several streams simultaneously), parental controls, and additional customization options. Most regular IPTV users end up here eventually.

How to connect an IPTV subscription to TiviMate

TiviMate supports three connection methods. The one you use depends on what your IPTV provider gives you when you sign up.

Xtream Codes API

This is the most common method, and generally the most reliable. Your provider gives you three things: a server URL, a username, and a password. Inside TiviMate, go to Settings, then Playlists, then Add Playlist, and select Xtream Codes. Enter those three details and TiviMate pulls in your channel list and EPG automatically.

Xtream Codes also gives TiviMate access to your VOD library and catch-up content directly inside the app, which M3U alone does not always handle as cleanly.

M3U playlist URL

If your provider gives you an M3U URL rather than Xtream credentials, you can paste it directly into TiviMate. Channel lists load fine this way. EPG data may need to be added separately as an XMLTV URL, depending on whether your provider embeds it in the M3U or supplies it as a separate link.

Stalker portal

Stalker Portal connections are tied to your device's MAC address. This method is less common with modern providers and shows up mainly with legacy or operator-managed services. If your provider gave you a portal URL and asks for your MAC address rather than a username and password, this is the method to use.

Setting up TiviMate on Firestick and Android TV

TiviMate is an Android app and is not listed in the Amazon Appstore by default. On a Firestick, you install it through the Downloader app.

  1. Enable Apps from Unknown Sources in your Firestick settings under My Fire TV, then Developer Options.
  2. Install the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore if it is not already there.
  3. Open Downloader and enter the URL or short code for the TiviMate APK.
  4. Run the installer once it downloads.
  5. Open TiviMate, go to Settings, and add your playlist using whichever connection method your provider supports.

On Android TV devices like a Nvidia Shield, Sony Bravia, or Chromecast with Google TV, TiviMate is available directly from the Google Play Store. Search for TiviMate IPTV Player and install it. No sideloading required.

Once installed, the app behaves the same on both platforms. Remote navigation, EPG layout, and settings menus are identical.

IPTV TiviMate: EPG and program guide setup

The EPG is one of the main reasons people choose TiviMate over simpler IPTV players. It displays a scrollable grid of channels with current and upcoming programs, which is what makes an IPTV subscription feel like a proper TV service rather than a bare list of stream links.

If you connected via Xtream Codes, the EPG often loads automatically from your provider's data. If it does not, or if you connected via M3U, go to Settings, then EPG, and enter the XMLTV URL your provider supplies. You can find more detail on this in our TiviMate EPG guide.

TiviMate lets you control how many days of EPG data to cache, how often it refreshes, and which channels appear in the guide. You can hide channels you never watch and reorder the ones you use most. Small things, but they add up when you are using the app every day.

Common issues and what actually causes them

Most problems people run into with IPTV TiviMate fall into a short list.

Buffering is almost always a server-side or network issue, not a TiviMate problem. If switching to a different stream or channel resolves it, the issue is with that specific stream. If all streams buffer, check your internet connection speed and whether your provider's servers are under load.

EPG not loading is usually a wrong or expired XMLTV URL, or a provider that has not updated their guide data. Re-entering the URL and forcing a manual refresh in TiviMate's EPG settings resolves this in most cases.

Channels missing after adding a playlist sometimes happens when a provider updates their stream list. Go into your playlist settings in TiviMate and force an update. TiviMate caches playlist data and does not always pull changes automatically.

App not installing on Firestick is almost always the Unknown Sources setting not being enabled. Double-check it is turned on before attempting to install via Downloader.
